Moultonboro school children test out the RE/MAX Baloon!Brian Russell and Les Smith help inflate the RE/MAX Balloon in Moultonboro."Big Max" the RE/MAX Balloon floats Above the Crowd in MoultonboroBrian Russell gives the OK as the Principal and Superintendant of the Moultonboro School lift off!

There’s No Place Like Home, Toto!

The Moultonboro Central School got a special treat in October 2005, as the new RE/MAX office in Moultonboro Village arranged for “Big Max”, a 5-story hot air balloon to be inflated in the field behind the school.  As a part of a program called “Challenge the Winds”, balloon pilot (or Aeronaut, as he boasts) Chris Mooney gave the children in our community a chance to get out of the classroom and learn the dynamics of hot air balloon flight.  Principal Michelle Miller and Superintendent Michael Lancor had an opportunity to fly above the crowd at the school as students and faculty below chanted “There’s no place like home, there’s no place like home” from the Wizard of Oz.  Afterward, Mr. Mooney, his Crew Chief, Jeff Ratcliffe and his “helpers” Les Smith, Cathy Martin, and Brian Russell from RE/MAX walked around to the various classrooms to answer questions from the students.  While many of the questions were related to the size and the speed of the balloon, some budding Aeronauts wanted to know more about how much Mr. Mooney gets paid and why he chose to be a balloon pilot, to which he responded "Because with this job, everyday is like Sunday."
